Growing As We Learn, Learning As We Grow
Respect – Responsibility - Resilience
Araluen Primary School was established in 1971. Our school is set on beautiful, spacious grounds in a quiet pocket of Sale in Gippsland, Victoria. We have extensive treed grounds, grassed ovals, delightful garden spaces, shade sails, adventure play equipment, and large sporting areas.
At Araluen, we pursue personal achievement and success for all, focusing strongly on literacy, numeracy, music, and student wellbeing. Our broad curriculum includes history, geography, civics and citizenship, environmental studies, cultural studies, and more. Araluen provides specialist programs in Visual Arts, Digital Technology, Physical Education, Music, and Auslan, and science.
This approach not only allows our students to participate in a diverse range of learning experiences, but also helps in developing confidence, personal growth, and a strong sense of self-worth. We actively teach, model, and encourage respect for diversity and a sense of community responsibility.
As part of our emphasis on ‘the performing Arts’, our students’ artistic efforts are proudly displayed at the Sale Show each year and our choir has enjoyed years of success in the vocal sections at local Eisteddfods and State School Spectacular. On the sporting front, in addition to weekly P.E. classes, we offer specialist tennis lessons, swimming, taekwondo, gymnastics, and athletics across the whole school, as well as hosting a variety of sports clinics throughout the year. We are members of the Wellington network of schools and compete at a higher level in cross country, athletics, winter sports, and swimming.
Our senior students take on leadership roles, including School Captains, House Captains, Values Leaders, and Games Leaders. All Foundation students are allocated a senior school buddy under our buddies program.
One of our greatest strengths at Araluen is our close-knit community, which is the result of our strong commitment to the school-home partnership. We have an active parent body that participates enthusiastically in the school lives of their children, and a wonderful Parents Group that organises a whole host of activities throughout the year.
We believe strongly that the education of a child is a joint responsibility, and it is only by working together that we can achieve collective goals and the best outcomes for our students.
