and
encouraging all children to aim for the highest
possible academic and personal achievements. These are recognised
through whole school awards, newsletter reports and special
assembly presentations that celebrate improvement and success.
This guiding principle of 'growing as we learn' underpins
the school's culture and is evidenced in the recognition
accorded every individual child. At Araluen we value cooperation,
resilience, organisation, persistence, confidence, tolerance,
honesty and respect. We expect that pupils will be lifelong
learners contributing positively to the community in which
they live.
One
of three primary schools close to the centre of town, Araluen
has justifiably earned a reputation as a welcoming community
school. All of its students are known by name and are recognised
as valuable members of the school 'family'.
The
school buildings are sited in attractive surroundings featuring
outdoor learning areas, netball and basketball courts and
a recently upgraded play equipment area, amphitheatre, large
shade-covered sandpit, quiet seating areas and a bike ed
track. Our grounds adjoin a community oval and parkland,
and are within close proximity of the Community Sports Stadium,
Swimming Complex, Fauna Park and Lake Guthridge.
